British Food at it's Worst?

It is without doubt that the UK in general earned a well deserved reputation for absolutely dreadful, unhealthy food in the post war years.

But that has changed. A lot! For many people the UK is the gastronomic center of the universe having a huge diversity of world class cuisines and restaurants.

The ultimate restaurant award is the Michelin Star. The UK boasts more Michelin Starred restaurants than any other country. Yes, more than the USA!

But it doesn't end there. Take a wander out into the countryside and stop off at beautiful English pubs where good food has transformed the pub industry. In the cities you will so-called 'Gastro Pubs' where the food is the star but throughout the Country, pub food has become an exquisite experience to enjoy.

As opposed to the USA where endless restaurant chains are ubiquitous and mostly serve the same sort of food, the UK tends to individual, privately owned restaurants and pubs.
